CHARACTER
NAME: Black★Gold Saw YEAH THAT'S HER NAME. It's dumb and super special-snowflake-y. Really, she's a loser.
AGE: Appears to be around like... anywhere between 18 to 28??
FANDOM/MEDIUM: Black★Rock Shooter OVA (with much needed extra information pulled from the manga Black★Rock Shooter: Innocent Soul, the artist/creator Huke’s blog, and PSP game.).
CANON PULL-POINT: After the OVA.
ABILITIES:
Black★ Gold Saw’s main weapon is called the King Saw. It is both taller and heavier than her, obnoxiously dangerous, and appears and disappears at will. Her great saw has not been shown to morph into any other form like other Otherselves’ weapons.
Her hands are basically large, black, claw-like skeletons. Her legs and feet are covered in black, heavy, metallic armor. This armor serves it purpose, for without it she would be a light-weight. At the same time, she moves around with ease.
She has incredible strength, enough to carry her own sword and armor and stay suspended in the air for extended periods of time while fighting.
One moment she's there, the other she's behind her, even outsmarting the protag with her speed.
High tolerance for pain. Cuts and bruises will not bother her, and they disappear within the hour. Greater damage such as severed limbs and viscera take longer to heal. Healing happens quicker when she rests, not that she’ll ever admit it. Like seriously. These girls take limb loss and 100+ bullets to the body without blinking
FROM THE ANIME: She's been shown multiple times to simply... pass through the ground? And go into the deeper layer of the Otherworld. Also, one attack has her showing that her abilities can simply stop something energetic from proceeding (for example, when one domain of the otherworld was literally collapsing in on itself, she just strikes at the focal point (which seemed to be some kind of black hole, and it... ceases to absorb energy. Also the objects that were being brought around stopped mid air; basically, everything save for the black rock shooter girls stopped in time.) Yay, hitting first, asking questions later?
FROM THE MANGA: Part of what the Otherselves are supposed to do as 'Janitors' in their world is make sure the dead die. This would not be possible if they did not have such an ability to 'slay the essence', so to speak. This kind of attack that allows the Otherselves to bring about absolute death is not activated all the time.
Resistance to all things fire. WELL. It's a given. Her eye lights up on fire when powering up. Or whenever she wants it to.
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
An important thing to note is that Black★Gold Saw is a minor character. On a lonely island in the Otherworld, the two "Otherselves" Black★Gold Saw and Black★Rock Shooter are seen fighting each other. This is the only fight that shows Black★Gold Saw actually frowning in battle—something serious between them is going down, and what it devolved to is unpleasant for the both of them. After a short sequence, Black★Gold Saw catches Black★Rock Shooter by surprise, stabbing her saw right through the torso of Black★Rock Shooter, and running off victorious. (Of course, Otherselves cannot die permanently, so everyone is glad to know that the hero Black★Rock Shooter survived.)
A synopsis of the rest of the OVA story can be found on this wiki page.
What is an Otherself? It’s a term not made by the Otherselves themselves, that’s for sure. In fact, it may be a completely relative description. They are not a reflection, as that would imply being total opposites. The humans are the “otherselves” of the Otherselves, and the Otherselves are the “otherselves” of the humans. For whatever reason, the Otherselves appear at least a few years older than their humans. Otherselves as not total reflections of their human selves, but they are rather a sort of hypothetical self. If their human selves were given absolute power and raised in a post-apocalyptic/limbo environment to do battle, to survive, and given a vague purpose of making sure the dead die, the Otherselves are how they would turn out to be. Otherselves are able to form a connection with their humans to boost power, if the emotions resonate enough. However, Black★Gold Saw has not been shown to do this.
As for appearances, the Otherselves have almost pigmentless white skin (there is one exception), coupled with eyes that tend to glow in the dark. Black★Gold Saw ‘s left eye lights up in flames when she is channeling more power. She also sports two horns on top of her head. Her arms are thin despite her obvious strength, and appear to be made of (rather than simply covered) some black skeleton like armor that extends to her upper arm, and her hands are nothing but these black, claw-like bones. Upon experiencing some sort of taxing emotion or exhaustion, these inhuman appearances may fade. For convenience, they have the ability to morph the default skeletal hand into a normal human hand.

CHARACTER PERSONALITY:
Overall, Black★Gold Saw is an unpleasant person. There is little to describe her even as someone who’s ‘cold on the outside, warm underneath’. She does not mind being alone. Socializing for her if mainly when she does not feel like battling; she neither has much experience with it in her world nor goes out of her way to do so unless something profound catches her eye.
Black★ Gold Saw is confident. She’s confident in her abilities to succeed, to hurt, and to kill. She is aggressive, sadistic, snarky, and has little patience for things that get in her way. She has little to no tolerance for things that annoy her. The only reason to discriminate who she attacks or kill and who she doesn’t is whether those things waste her time. She wants a challenge in her opponents, and will only fight those that are worth fighting, that will bring her excitement during battle. On the positive side, this means she does not go around fighting totally helpless or defenseless people. If she does not wish to fight another, her interaction with them tends to be her playing the part that may be more or less described as an indifferent bully.
The Otherworld has bred her and any Otherself to see that there is no such thing as something good or evil, and that there are little reasons to be either kind or cruel. Why Saw may be cruel herself is because she found this trait to benefit her most in her world: hurt them first and hurt them good, so that she may be safer from them. At least, that is what it started out like from whenever she began to exist. Eventually, she gained enough power that she did not need to hurt others for her own safety. Instead, she only hurt and fought other Otherselves for her own enjoyment. Other than that, she’s highly destructive of people, land and property, mostly because there is nothing of true value in her world.
Black★Gold Saw does not think well of the weak and the emotionally weak. She knows that emotions can cripple. She knows how to use them against others. But she refuses to acknowledge them other than for the fact they can be tools to be used in battle. During battle, she keeps a cool head. She channels anger into a cool hatred, she cannels discomfort into a calm, boosting, force. She is a person of few words, and when she fights she says absolutely nothing until the battle is finished. The only other purpose she sees in using emotions is bringing communication. As mentioned above, Black★Gold Saw is a minimalist when it comes to speaking. Instead, she enjoys using expressions that usually range from amusement on one end to discomfort and annoyance on the other to show what she wants to say. If others misinterpret her, that’s their problem.
WORLD:
FROM THE MANGA: “The Otherworld”, “The Hazama”, or “The Threshold”.
It is where tormented souls of the dead may end up, dragging anyone that they hurt, anyone that they wish to hurt there, and anyone that may have hurt them with them to this place. When souls ‘break’ from stress or despair, they reveal their true colors as monsters that only know their regret. The Otherselves are like “Janitors” here, cleaning up these souls if and when they break. The Otherworld is a surreal world, consisting mostly of a monochrome background, a moon that never sets, and high cliffs that characters may stand on to look upon said moon all reflective-like. Everything from the towns, cities, and humans, to the ground, the plants, and air, has nothing but a feel of the peaceful silence that is death. In fact, the towns themselves are merely constructs of the human soul’s imagination, and they readily disappear when an Otherself slays their corrupted soul. As such, nothing of human mind and construction, from these towns, to water, to food, is truly real in the Otherworld. What’s left when the soul is gone is a barren landscape. So—what are the Otherselves shown to eat? Well, they are shown to eat the fake-food constructed by the human souls. More importantly, they have been shown to eat these souls.
The times when it is not peaceful are when the Otherselves decide to beat the hell out of each other. This comes into play with Black★Gold Saw. She does not wish to adhere to her “Janitor” duty because the broken souls are much too easy; she only wants to fight others that may cause real excitement in the Otherworld. Fights between Otherselves are highly destructive and spectacular in nature, despite their short length because of high curve between their powers. Souls may be caught in the cross fight, even if they neither devolved into their monstrous forms yet nor were ready to move on.
But…if the souls are already dead, then how do the Otherselves actually kill them? Simple. The Otherselves purpose as Janitors is to make sure dead things eventually die. Permanently. If the soul doesn’t move on, then they kill them so that they do. The Otherselves have the ability to make sure dead things, well, die.
FROM THE ANIME: The easier explanation. The otherworld is where the suffering of an individual manifests into these beings called the otherselves. To ease the suffering of their human counterparts, they fight out the stress which helps their humans greatly, and in sometimes, kill each other's sufferings. "Kill" is a relative term. Even with their heads cut off, they re-appear. The only way to kill these girls is with... love? Friendship? A giant rainbow-powered cannon?
Those sentimental kind of things.
OCCUPATION: Pastor, if possible. For fun.

THIRD PERSON:
She could curse all she wishes, she could sneer all she wants, she could grind her teeth until they turn to sand, but none of those actions would change the fact that Black★Rock Shooter had survived the attack. She always knew that girl was different, not only for the lack of horns or claws, but for her compassion as well. Black★Gold Saw had thought that because she gained this emotion and lost those inhuman traits she could have slain her for good. Even with the ability to make sure the dead die again in their world, it turns out that this most useful talent could not be used against each other. All things considered, she mentally kicks herself for thinking otherwise.
Yet she muses--…would she rather all of their kind be mortal in this world, if only that meant she could make sure Black★Rock Shooter died?
Of course not. She would not give up anything for others. She favors herself above the rest, for thinking selfishly is how she managed to live, that is to feel enjoyment, in this forsaken world so far. Black★Gold Saw would keep her frustration and anger against failing to destroy her. After all, emotions such as these are only a nuisance when they remain unchanneled, and she is not one to let anything go to waste.
FIRST PERSON:
[She speaks to no one in particular, scrunching up her nose.] Why would anyone think another is important? The only reason to be with another is to make yourself happy by trying to make them happy. So even then it’s superficial. [She kicks a rock with armor-covered boots. Hit so precisely and powerfully, the rock readily crumbles into fine dust upon impact.]
...If I sugar-coated the word 'selfish', it'd simply turn into 'relationship'.

NOTES: Before the OVA, manga, and PSP game, Black★Rock Shooter was originally a four minute Vocaloid PV with art by Huke and song by Supercell.
